Infographic

We are in the age where there is accelerated growth of information. Thanks to the Internet, online learning has been made easily available, but it has also led to information overload. The use of infographics in eLearning is proving to be an easier way of simplifying the most complex eLearning ideas. Infographic helps to identify, analyze, and break eLearning content into smaller, manageable pieces. It also organizes learning into suitable graphical structure representation. Some of the benefits associated with using infographics in eLearning include:

Offering a step-by-step visual guide

Even when it’s broken down into points, learning complicated task can be challenging. Not only that infographics makes information easier to understand, but it also helps learners memorize and process the content faster.

Increasing knowledge retention

Using infographics in online learning enhances knowledge retention. Learners remember images, slides, charts and other elements more effectively compared to the text-based information. It’s a quick way of providing information without having to go through lots of complicated paragraphs and boring lectures that reiterate the same concept over and over.

Eliminating unnecessary details

You probably heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. This is true when it comes to the use of infographics. With no visual aids, learners spend more time trying to figure out the main idea of the lesson. Infographics also help with information overload, which is often a problem in eLearning.

Help two ideas meet

Do you have two concepts that are intended to be connected together during the teaching process? Using infographics will enable you to display them side by side and make sharing the key points across much easier and faster. Additionally, infographics helps learners make the needed association between the two concepts.

The use of infographics is simple and effective, but to achieve the desired effect, you need to ensure that your infographics set the right learning tone:

  • Choose a targeted topic and have a common theme
  • Always include striking visuals
  • Make it multiplatform and mobile-friendly
  • Double check your data and make sure it’s accurate
  • Minimize the cohesiveness and the clutter for easy flow.

Infographics is clearly becoming a preferred way of teaching as it catches the attention of learners because of its visually appealing interface and focus on the key points in the eLearning content.
